Austins best Christmas gift EVER!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

We had a wonderful Christmas...I will post all of our Christmas pictures a little later....I accidentally deleted everything off our blog page so I am trying to get everything back to the way it was. BUT I wanted to post Austin's favorite Christmas present....A Spiderman Lamp....this is what he asked for when he sat on Santa's lap and he must have been an extra good boy because he brought it to him. Everyone that I have told about Austin's favorite gift, gives me a weird look, so here is a little clip of his new prized possession!! His SPIDERMAN LAMP...

Christmas is Coming

We just wanted to share some pictures of some of our holiday traditions...baking cookies, we use those cheap-o Christmas chocolate countdowns, and of course, going down to Temple Square and seeing the lights and visiting the Visitors center to see the nativity scene and seeing the statue of Christ to remind us what Christmas really is about....enjoy!

S'more snow

I watched my sister kids over at her house this week. The kids had a lot of fun having a change of scenery. The only bad thing is, there wasn't a big selection of boys toys that he was able to play with. So he resorted to playing fairy princess with his cousin Abby. I don't care that he plays with dolls or girly things but seeing him in this outfit...I did what any mom would do...grabbed my camera! I will need this for blackmail later, or to put in the back of his senior yearbook in high school. Friday night we watched Grace and Jack at our house while Melissa and Mark went to Marks company Christmas party. We had soo much fun!! We had S'MORES and we watched Frosty the Snowman, and then we looked out the window and saw that it had snowed like 2" already so we got a cup of snow and watched Polar Express by the fire...it was a lot of fun!!! On Saturday Morning we woke up to about 8" of snow..it was so wet and heavy Chad broke our snow shovel lifting it!! We had an inside day just relaxing and watching movies and of course played in the snow!! Austin and I tried to build a snowman but apparently I suck and it kept breaking and falling down, but he and Chad stayed outside and built a snow fort, Chad builds one every year. This year Austin finds it especially cool and would sleep in it tonight if we would let him, but of course...that is not going to happen!

Under the Weather

I took Austin and Alyssa in to see the Doctor today. Alyssa has had a cough and cold since October and recently developed a strange rash on her upper thigh. It has now spread to the whole left side of her body so I had to take her in. Austin has gone to bed and woken up with a cough that sounded really croupy (is that a word) and said his throat hurt. His Aunt had strep throat and just saw her on Sunday so I had to take him in too! They always have a good time at the Dr. Office...sounds crazy I know, but they have made them very fun for kids, with huge over sized fish tanks with a "Nemo and Dorey" fish. And every book you could possibly think of. And our little exam room is an exciting new place to explore with all sorts of "tools" they have never seen before. Well, it turns out Alyssa has a severe dry skin (eczema) rash and they gave me some cool oil with a steroid in it for her skin. And they did a throat culture for Austin because he also had a rash on his chest that she thought might be a strep rash. who knew? so I will get the results on that tomorrow. And as for Alyssa's cold that she can't get rid of, I just need to wait it out. But they did give me some cold medicine. So at least I got some "free" medicine for my $30 co-pay...but to me, it is always worth the peace of mind!

Christmas Party, Anniversary, and a Birthday

On Saturday we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow. I love how beautiful the snow makes everything look. Chad even went out and shoveled without any complaint. We had a Christmas Party to go to at Nick and Kim's house. Us kids drew names this year, and this was the only day that we could all get together and spend time talking and letting the kids play, and exchange presents. We didn't mind celebrating this early, we are so lucky, because we all get along so well, and the kids play great together. In fact, there are always tears because they are never ready to be done playing together! Chad made his famous scrumptious potato soup....yummy! Everyone loved their presents! Right after leaving Nick and Kim's house we went to Chad, Casey and Nick's hockey game, I love watching them play....they are amazing on the ice. Austin is probably going to start playing next year when he is 4. After the game I arranged for Luan (Chad's mom) to watch the kids so I could surprise Chad and take him out to dinner so we could celebrate meeting 10 years ago, which also happened to be the day he asked me out on our first date. Alyssa wanted to stay with my mom, so Austin got Grandma Green all to her self. I think he has a little crush on her :) Anyway, I was going to surprise Chad by blindfolding him and taking him back to my old doorstep where we met, but realized he wouldn't go for that, so instead I took him to Olive Garden but the wait was 40 min. so we went to Texas Roadhouse instead. Neither of us had been there before, it was fun! They have a pail of peanuts at your table that you can crack and throw the shell on the floor, then they have the waiters/waitresses dance around to certain songs, it was fun! I had our waitress take a picture of us to remember this day, and Chad was so embarrassed! He hates being the center of attention. We had a lot of fun reminiscing about our courtship and our first date. We went to our high school dance, our first dance was to 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' by Savage Garden, which was the song we danced to at our wedding. ah, memories. Tonight we celebrated my moms Birthday and all of her kids and grand kids were able to come, so it turned out to be a great birthday for her. I hope you all had as good of a weekend as we did, and got to have fun building snowmen and making snow angels!

Happy Thanksgiving and BLACK Friday

We had a good Thanksgiving!! Chad and his brothers always start Thanksgiving Day with the Turkey bowl, they get a big group of guys together and play football. Then the rest of the day they try to pretend like they arent sore! :) We had Thanksgiving lunch at Chad's moms house. The kids always have so much fun over there! That night we had Thanksgiving Dinner at our house and then we played card games with everyone, it was a lot of fun! Then at midnight my sister and I decided to go to Fashion Place Mall on the spur of a moment and it was so crazy!!! I cannot believe how many people were there. We waited to get into the mall for about 20 min. and then we made it into ONE store! After that there was a line to get into each store it was ridiculous! Good News is, I got my kids new coats for buy one get one free!! When we were at Chad's moms earlier Rich had said if I go out shopping to get him a computer from Circuit City, so we drove by just to see how busy it was, and there were people in actual tents "camped out" complete with sleeping bags and fire pits!! So I am sorry Rich, I would have got you that computer but I didnt think to bring my camping gear! We hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving too!!!

Busy, Busy Weekend!!

This weekend we had a lot going on. First, we went to Austin's soccer game. That didnt go so well. His games are all during his regular nap time, and well, it's just not good. He didn't even want to play so we just left early. Then I went to My sister in law D's (Diana) Baby Shower. She is such a cute preggo lady.
The Shower was pretty much done by the time I got there, but I got to see the gifts she got, and EVERYTHING she got was so dang cute! My other sister in law, Kim, was there so I made sure to get one last picture of her preggo belly before she has her little baby Seth in about 10 days...
That night we met up with Chads dad and step mom Rose, Dusten and Asenath and their kids, Nick and Kim and their kids and Casey and D. He had a dinner to celebrate Christmas, because they arent going to be here. They will be in Escalante. Afterward we went over to Darrel and Rose's house to play games and open gifts. All the kids LOVED their gifts. Austin and Alyssa got book sets and we have read them all several times. And they each got their very own ornament. I am sad that they are moving down to Escalante, so we will have to make sure we visit them as often as we can.

Let's pretend it is still Halloween!

Here it is a week and a day after Halloween, and today is the first day that Austin hasn't worn his costume, and that is only because Chad hid it! He loves it!! I mean he really, really loves his peter pan costume. Sometimes he wont even answer to Austin, or Peter...it's Peter Pan!! He even puts Alyssa's Tinkerbell costume on her, and tries to convince Chad and I to put our costumes on. I don't mind I think it is kind of cute. You spend a lot of money for it to be worn for only a day, and it brings out his creative little mind. Austin and I have gone shopping to numerous stores with him in his costume and no one ever gives us weird looks (at least that I've seen) For some reason though, Chad cant stand it! He bribes him to change into regular clothes but he wont cave. So last night after spending a good 15-20 minutes convincing Austin to get into his pajamas Chad took the costume and hid it away from Austin AND me (so I don't give in to his begging to please put it back on) So good bye Peter Pan we will see you next year!

Election Day!!

Chad's Uncle was in the race for Salt Lake City Mayor. The Election results tonight were Ralph Becker with 64% of the votes and Dave Buhler with 36%. There hasn't been a Republican Mayor of Salt Lake City since the early 1970's. Dave ran a good race, you can check out his interviews of election night at www.fox13.com

Great Job Dave!!!

Baby Shower!!

I hosted a Baby Shower on Saturday for my sister in law Kim. She is having a baby boy, and they are naming him Seth. She is due the day after Thanksgiving, what a blessing to be thankful for. She got the cutest little outfits and blankets. They make the cutest little things for boys these days. Congrats Kim! I can't wait to meet your little man! (sorry for the lack of photos, I used Kims camera that day so she could have some memories preserved of her special day. I just got a group shot of-Asenath, Rose, Me , Kim, Luan, and Diana)

Happy Halloween everyone!! We had so much fun. Austin and Abby got to perform their songs that they learned in Joy School for the family. Alyssa thought she knew the songs as well as them and joined right in! Afterward we went over to the church for Trunk-or-Treating, it was a lot of fun!! The kids got a lot of candy so we just called it a night. When we got home Alyssa couldn't wait for me to take off the wrappers off the candy so she started eating the candy AND the wrappers! Austin and Alyssa loved running to the door for the trick-or-treaters, Although Austin couldn't understand why we were giving away our candy?!? I hope you all had a fun, safe, Halloween....enjoy our pictures!

PuMpKiN cArViNg

We carved our pumpkins tonight to get ready for tomorrow--HALLOWEEN!! Alyssa loved it, she kept shouting EWWW! EWWW! But she wouldn't stop playing with all the "pumpkin guts" Dad and Austin carved his little pumpkin from our garden, it was still mostly green. And then he was in a trance watching the Charlie Brown Halloween Special...I loved that when I was little (still do). Tomorrow is the "big day" Austin is so excited. We are going to go Trunk-or-Treating. For those of you that don't know what that is, it's where everyone gathers together in the church parking lot in their cars and then you pass out candy from your trunk (a lot of people will decorate their trunks) as the little kids go car to car. It makes it a little easier for the little ones. I made 189 ghost suckers, I hope that will be enough. Of course we will update you all with pictures of tomorrow night! Hope you all have Happy Halloween!!

?!?! MURDER MYSTERY ?!?!

Tonight Chad and I got invited to our first murder mystery dinner party. It was so much fun. It was set in a vineyard in Napa Valley. Chad was an FBI agent who hated wine but loved beer named BUD WIZER. I was a former Napa Valley Pageant Princess turned movie star named MARILYN MERLOT back at the vineyard to gloat about my success. When an earthquake shook the vineyard mansion and revealed a dead body in the wine cellar floor boards. It was fun to act out the parts and see the story unfold. Chad and I want to host one for sure, maybe in January after the holidays when it is dull and there is nothing going on.....

HAPPY FALL Y'ALL

We have been enjoying the recent fall weather because we are able to go outside and stay for longer than 10 min at a time. Alyssa was having fresh air withdrawls and this week we have definitely made up for it. The kids just had their flu shots this week so we are hoping that we will have a healthier winter than we have had this month. Enjoy some of our fall pics.

Game On!!

Austin started soccer today with his cousin Abby. They are the littlest ones on the team. They didn't have enough people sign up so rather than just playing with the 3-4 year old he is playing with kids ranging from 3-6 years old They were both a little intimidated today. Abby was almost frozen with fear and found a "safe spot" and didn't move an inch. Austin slowly walked in the direction of the ball and kicked it a few times. After half time he had a "moment" He wanted to go home and take a nap.
.

He snapped out of that and decided to get back in the game and he felt a little more comfortable and started playing more! It was way cute, seeing him in his shin guards and his little soccer shirt. We learned our lesson to make sure he takes his nap BEFORE the game next week!!
